LEADERSHIP
Opportunities for growth
There has always been a desire in me to teach and create a circle of individuals that can grow and learn from one another. Mentoring young designers and marketing professionals has not only allowed me the opportunity to share my knowledge; it has also allowed me to expand my horizons, learn from bright minds, and collaborate with some of the best students in the industry. Below are some of the kindest words from interns and mentees I have had the opportunity to connect with.
Brandon Brown
Media Designer
Fall 2021-Present
"Andie is an incredible mentor and leader who has made such a positive impact on my career. Her expertise, guidance, and support have been instrumental in my growth as a designer and professional. She is always willing to share her insights and answer any questions I have. Her feedback is always thoughtful and constructive, helping me refine my skills and develop my own design style.
Beyond her technical expertise, Andie is also an incredible source of motivation and encouragement. She has helped me in more ways than I can count, and it truly feels like she cares and is invested in my career. I couldn’t be more thankful. I was offered a full-time position at SWANA after my internship, which I accepted, and I am happy to be a member of the team that she is leading. Thank you so much for everything!"
Kevin Weininger
Graphic Design Intern
Fall 2018-Summer 2019
"During my time interning at SWANA I worked under the leadership of Andrea. With every project, Andrea made sure I had a clear sense of direction and understanding. A standard was set, goals were given, and Andrea helped me achieve those goals and much more during my time under her mentorship. I learned far more than just “design,” Andrea’s work ethic, demeanor, and overall interest in teaching and improving my skills on a corporate level played a huge part in helping me become the designer I am today. I am very thankful to have had a mentor such as Andrea.
Nikki King
Marketing Intern
Spring 2020
Coming into my last semester of college, I was looking for an experience that would allow me to test the communications and marketing skills I’d acquired throughout my collegiate career. Working with Andie at SWANA was my first opportunity to apply what I’d learned in a real life scenario, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.Andie made sure I felt one with the team immediately. She was very patient as I was navigating what it meant to contribute to a group that depended on one other throughout the marketing process. She was very personable and approachable and welcomed any and all questions I came across. She allowed me creative and personal growth within my internship position, and worked with me one on one with areas I wanted to learn more about, specifically the tips and tricks of graphic designing. Andie is driven, and goal-oriented, and would make a great asset to any team."
